Maximizing Profits

The year is just about over.... how does an organization position itself for greater success in 2007? A few suggestions:

1. Go With What They Crave - Sponsorship is changing! Adjust your benefits to fit the needs of today's corporations. Hospitality and sales benefits are two top benefits. If you can't offer sales, tie-in with a third party (ie: retailer or grocery store) that can provide those critical benefits. Market your sponsorship to fit their needs. Develop tie-ins for various holidays large and small: St. Patrick's Day, Halloween, Holidays and New Year.

2. Start Mingling - Meet marketing decision-makers and executives within corporations by attending social/business functions. It is not necessary to pitch folks on the spot... rather focus on asking key questions about their business, ie: What services or products will your bank be promoting in 2007? Look to your Chamber, AMA (American Marketing Assoc.), Sales & Marketing Executives and PRSA (Public Relations Society of America) for dates, seminars and events.

3. Step Back - Are current goals realistic? In an attempt to meet unrealistic revenue goals, organizations are often tempted to pitch sponsorship ideas so close to deadline that they look unprofessional. Or worse yet, the corporation says yes only to have disappointing results and never return.

4. If You Can't Sell 'em, Join 'em - Even if it's too late to solicit sponsors for an event that is just around the corner, it's not too late to position yourself for greater success. Invite prospective sponsors out to this year's event, treat them well and ask for their support in the future.
